Needle freewheel clutches are designed to transmit the torque in one direction only and they are the most compact freewheel clutches acting in the radial direction. Needle freewheel clutches are composed of pressed outer ring with the special formed inclined areas on the inner surface and with cuts (or without them) on the outside surface; of plastic cage; steel or plastic springs and needle rollers. They are designed for direct mounting on the shaft, the surface of which acts as a raceway. The clutches can be produced with thrust roller bearings or with plain bearings on the both sides, as well as without them. The second case requires the mounting of additional bearings for the proper operation of the freewheel clutches.
