Thrust (axial) tapered roller bearings are axially very compact bearing units, which can carry very heavy axial loads, are insensitive to shock loads and are stiff. Single direction and double direction thrust (axial) tapered roller bearings are produced. They are designed to accommodate axial loads in one direction and in both directions, respectively. Thrust (axial) tapered roller bearings have such a split design that the unit composed of washers, rollers and cage can be easily and safely mounted separately. For special applications bearings can have stamped protective shield, which makes the whole construction undetachable. Single direction thrust (axial) tapered roller bearings of special design with the sphered washers without the cage and with the maximum number of rollers are manufactured for rolling mill screw-down arrangments. Thrust (axial) tapered roller bearings are fitted with massive cages made of brass or steel. If it is necessary to provide the extremely high axial load capacity, the bearings can be produced without the cage with the maximum number of rollers.
